Dear President George Bush;
During the June 2006 conference, A Toast to Adult and Cord Cell Therapy: Helping Patients Now and in the Future, I had the honor of reading aloud a letter from you and the First Lady, which commended Do No Harm: The Coalition of Americans for Research Ethics, BOGO Wines, and the Family Research Council for success in raising awareness of adult stem cell therapy. Thank you very much for your unwavering support of adult stem cell therapy; it is encouraging to find leaders committed to this ethical and all life-giving science. Mr. President, in our mutual quest to educate the American public on the benefits of adult stem cell therapy, I request that you designate the month of June as Adult Stem Cell Awareness Month. As you know, there are now 73 documented cases where Adult Stem Cell Research has benefited human patients, as opposed to zero cases for embryonic stem cell research (statistic from Dr. David Prentice, February, 2008). I hope you agree that the American people need to be educated as to the wonderful cures provided via this regenerative medicine.
By designating June as Adult Stem Cell Awareness Month, the positive effects will be four-fold:
1) This therapy will be able to save and improve the lives of countless people all over the world.
2) As part of your legacy, your proclaimation will establish to the American people and to the world that the United States intends to remain the leader in the field of regenerative medicine now and in the future.
3) We will protect human life wiht “Cures without Controversy.” (And thank you for twice vetoing legislation to fund embryonic stem cell research.)
4) This proclamation will set the record straight - that there are two distinct types of stem cell research, and President George W. Bush supports the one that protects, preserves, and benefits human life in all stages.
This pro-active approach will work in the same manner as the pink ribbon did for beast cancer awareness. As you can see by the letterhead, I have already started the awareness marketing campaign with the U.S. patent (Reg. No. 3, 240, 234) of the “Two Hearts” as the official designated mark for Adult Stem Cell Research Funding. Thank you very much for your time, and I look forward to communicating with you in the future.
Sincerely,
Bill Schneeberger
